Stupid Is As Stupid Does, Revisited

For afficionados of Criminalize Conservatism, or for those compulsive neurotics who have read this site only a few times but have managed to cover all 88 posts and the seven Pages situated in the tabs under the heading at just a few readings, you have probably noticed a recurrent theme - the stupidity of the Conservative leaders and their sheeplets.  The Page "The Science," and the eleven posts seen in, especially  "Why Liberals Are Smarter Than Conservatives" and the series starting with "Stupid Is As Stupid Does",  and ending with "Stupid Is As Stupid Does, Finis" seem to have been the last writings on the subject, but the more astute of readers probably caught the reference in a few of the more recent posts to the abject stupidity of right wingers.

And to these scientific studies and other empirical evidence we add another important discovery: the linkage between religion and Conservative logic - not from the standpoint of the logical process that leads us to prove against the existence of a Christian god, but from another revelation - that the most common Conservative fallacy, "What happened to someone once, will always happen to everyone," is a result from listening to evangelical pastors and their Thou Shall Nots.

We are all familiar with, for example, the Christian extremists exhortation against gay marriage because of passages in the New Testament decrying homosexuality such as one in Leviticus 18:22, "Thou shalt not lie with mankind, as with womankind: it is an abomination."  Besides the fact that the Christian extremists and their undereducated pastors ignore other "abominations," such as the eating of rabbits and lobsters (Leviticus 11:6 and 11:10), wearing clothing made of more than one material (Leviticus 19:19), being unshaven and wearing one's hair long (Leviticus 19:27), and the penalty for cussing is being stoned to death. (Leviticus 24:16 says "He who blasphemes the name of the Lord shall be put to death; the whole congregation shall stone him..."), the fact remains: because someone in a nomad society decided a few thousand years ago that homosexuality was abhorrent to him, then it must be forbidden for everyone, always.

Hypocrisy aside, the fact remains that the more hateful tenets of the extremist religious zealots start with a quote from the Bible or other "holy" book, then extends that quote to include everyone, everywhere.

If a Conservative sheeplet espies the phrase, "...that all men are created equal...", then that means that the United States is a Christian nation.

If a Democrat like Congressman Anthony Weiner is found to be involved in a sex scandal, then all democrats are guilty of sex crimes - no matter that hundreds of Republicans have been found themselves embroiled in scandals compared to a handful of Democrats.

This leads us to the finale: when confronted by a sheeplet who is quoting some sort of hasty generalization, remember to tell the poor dumkopf, "JUST BECAUSE SOMETHING HAPPENED ONCE, IT DOESN'T MEAN IT WILL HAPPEN TO EVERYONE, ALWAYS."

As we found out in "Stupid Is As Stupid Does, Part III," ( study from the National Longitudinal Study of Adolescent Health (found that)...(y)oung adults who subjectively identify themselves as 'very liberal' have an average IQ of 106 during adolescence...Young adults who identify themselves as 'not at all religious; have an average IQ of 103 during adolescence, while those who identify themselves as 'very religious' have an average IQ of 97 during adolescence."

Conservative sheeplets, unfortunately for the rest of us, thrive on their own stupidity - as this article from economist Paul Krugman points out -->

Criminalize Conservatism we must, and the Conservative leadership at the very least deserves jail time, civil penalties, and for some - worse.  But if further advances in the neurological sciences are found, perhaps there will be a way for us to re-educate the poor sheeplets, and through biochemical or surgical means to raise their IQs, their sense of charity and decency, and join the democratic society that they were born in.

"I've just become a socialist.  It's a great scheme.  You work for the equal distribution of property, and start by collaring all you can and sitting on it."
