Conservatives And Treason

Fla. Republican:  We wanted to suppress black votes

Florida's disgraced former GOP chairman says the party had meetings about "keeping blacks from voting."
(From Salon.com)

Stories like this are getting to be commonplace as the Conservatives' strategy of stealing the Peoples' right to vote is exposed to the public every day. The article reads:

"In the debate over new laws meant to curb voter fraud in places like Florida, Democrats always charge that Republicans are trying to suppress the vote of liberal voting blocs like blacks and young people, while Republicans just laugh at such ludicrous and offensive accusations. That is, every Republican except for Florida’s former Republican Party chairman Jim Greer, who, scorned by his party and in deep legal trouble, blew the lid off what he claims was an effort to suppress the black vote. In a 630-page deposition recorded over two days in late May, Greer, who is on trial for corruption charges, unloaded a litany of charges against the "whack-a-do, right-wing crazies" in his party, including the effort to suppress the black vote.

"In the deposition, released to the press yesterday, Greer mentioned a December 2009 meeting with party officials. "I was upset because the political consultants and staff were talking about voter suppression and keeping blacks from voting," he said, according to the Tampa Bay Times. He also said party officials discussed how "minority outreach programs were not fit for the Republican Party," according to the AP.

"As Vanity Fair noted in a big 2004 story on the Sunshine State’s voting problems, 'Florida is a state with a history of
disenfranchising blacks.'  In the state’s notoriously botched 2000 election, the state sent a list of 50,000 alleged ex-felons to the counties, instructing them to purge those names from their rolls.   But it turned out that list included 20,000 innocent people, 54 percent of whom were black, the magazine reported.  Just 15 percent of the state’s population is black.   There were also reports that polling stations in black neighborhoods were understaffed, leading to long lines that kept some people from voting that year. The NAACP and ACLU sued the state over that purge.   A Gallup poll in December of 2000 found that 68 percent of African-Americans nationally felt black voters were less likely to have their votes counted fairly in Florida."

While it is no secret that Jim Crow still exists in Florida and other States - and not all of them Southern States - the true extent of Conservatives treasonous activities is never discussed by the media.

But Republicandirtytricks.com has called the Conservatives out in a brilliant posting entitled:

"Treason: Just Another Republican Election Strategy."

While I am reprinting excerpts from the article, PLEASE read the whole essay and bookmark it, as well as a famous essay by Vice President Henry Wallace on the "dangers of American Fascism," where Wallace says:

Republicandirtytricks.com begins: "Republicans cannot legitimately win elections on the basis of their failed ideology and trickle-down history of crashing the economy twice in a century, so they commit all sorts of offenses against the land they pretend to love – including lying, cheating and yes – even treason."

To continue, "...as Thom Hartmann explains, there have been 5 different presidents since Dwight Eisenhower left office in 1961 – and every single one of them have been illegitimate. From Richard Nixon to George W. Bush, they have all taken the highest office in the land with the help of lies, fraud and treason – NOT through the legitimate electoral process so many have given their lives for."(http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=6UM-hAbfOkA)

And more, about the Conservatives beloved Ronald Reagan: "In Madrid and Paris, the representatives of Ronald Reagan and the Iranian leadership discussed the question of possibly delaying the release of 52 hostages from the staff of the U.S. Embassy in Teheran, taken hostage by Iranian "students" and members of the "Corps of Defense of the Islamic Revolution" on 4 November 1979 until after the elections that took place in November 1980. In exchange for this, the American representatives promised to supply arms to Iran. This was asserted, in particular, by a former Israeli intelligence agent, Ari Ben-Menash, a Jew born in Iran and arrested in 1989 in the U.S. for supplying arms to Iran (arrested in California on charges of exporting contraband C-130 aircraft from the U.S. to Iran and who was in prison for 11 months and then freed). According to his calculation, the total value of the arms illegally delivered to Iran reached 82 billion dollars."

The article concludes, "These traitorous, treasonous, actions point to the fact that if we are ever to restore America to greatness, the Republican Party should be relegated to permanent minority status – as it was during the 50 years of United States history known as "The Great Prosperity."

Substitute the word "Conservative" for "Republican Party," and "illegality" for "permanent minority status" and you have the theme of "Criminalize Conservatism," cheerfully admitteby this poster to be composed by a web site with more expertise than this poster could ever hope to achieve.

Our country will be relegated to a Third World Status until the treasonous Conservative movement is marginalized, then criminalized.

Impeach Scalia And Thomas

Scalia on Obama: 'What can he do to me?'

By Kenneth P. Vogel

Printed in its entirety, Politico.com reported on Justice Antonin Scalia's interview with Fox "News" Sunday:

7/29/12 10:29 AM EDTSupreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia on Sunday said he did not "view it as a threat" when President Barack Obama in April predicted his signature healthcare overhaul "will be upheld because it should be upheld" and that anything less would constitute "judicial activism" by the high court.

Scalia conceded in an appearance on "Fox News Sunday" that Obama’s forceful comments on a pending Supreme Court case were "unusual, but as I say I don’t criticize the president publicly. And he normally doesn’t criticize me."

But when host Chris Wallace pressed, asking whether Scalia, who in June sided with a minority seeking to overturn the law, felt "any pressure as a result of that to vote a certain way," Scalia laughed.

"No. What can he do to me? Or to any of us?" the justice responded. "We have life tenure. And we have it precisely so that we will not be influenced by politics, by threats from anybody."

No, Mr. Scalia, those of us more familiar with the spirit and letter of the Constitution than you know that the Executive Branch of the U.S. cannot "do" anything to you, that is left to the People in the form of the House of Representatives.

From Wike Answers:

"Under normal circumstances, a Supreme Court justice is awarded a lifetime commission.

"A Supreme Court Justice may be impeached by the House of Representatives and removed from office if convicted in a Senate trial, but only for the same types of offenses that would trigger impeachment proceedings for any other government official under Articles I and II of the Constitution.

"Article III, Section 1 states that judges of Article III courts shall hold their offices "during good behavior." "The phrase "good behavior" has been interpreted by the courts to equate to the same level of seriousness 'high crimes and misdemeanors" encompasses.

"In addition, any federal judge may prosecuted in the criminal courts for criminal activity. If found guilty of a crime in a federal district court, the justice would face the same type of sentencing any other criminal defendant would...

"Only one Supreme Court Justice, Samuel Chase (one of the signatories to the Declaration of Independence), has ever been impeached. The House of Representatives accused Chase of letting his Federalist political leanings affect his rulings, and served him with eight articles of impeachment in late 1804. The Senate acquitted him of all charges in 1805, establishing the right of the judiciary to independent opinion. Chase continued on the Court until his death in June 1811."

"Bad Behavior?" More Like Reprehensible Behavior!

After the Judicial Coup de Etat that annointed George W. Bush to the Presidencey in 2000, Philip J. Berg, former Deputy Attorney General of Pennsylvania demanded that "the three (3) Justices of The Supreme Court of the United States should voluntarily turn in their licenses in their respective states or we will ask that disciplinary action be undertaken including disbarment as well as summary suspension in their respective states for violating the Rules of Court and not 'recusing' themselves in the case of Bush vs. Gore and other violations Specifically, Justices O'Connor, Scalia and Thomas."

Berg noted and cited Vincent Bugliosi's essay, None Dare Call It Treason:

"1. Failure to recuse yourself from the case of Bush vs. Gore based upon the following:

"a. JUSTICE SANDRA DAY O'CONNOR'S election evening exclamation, "This is terrible," when CBS anchor Dan Rather called Florida for Al Gore before 8 P.M. clearly indicated her 'preference' in the Presidential election for which there was only one decision, that being to "recuse" herself.

"b. JUSTICE ANTONIN SCALIA'S obvious conflict of interest with two of his sons working in the law firms of Ted Olson and Barry Richard, attorneys representing George W. Bush's legal interest in the cases regarding the 2000 Presidential election with one son actually working on Bush vs. Gore for which there was only one decision, that being to "recuse" himself.

"c. JUSTICE CLARENCE THOMAS'S obvious conflict of interest with his wife working at the Heritage Foundation reviewing Republican resumes for the Bush administration for which there was only one decision, that being to "recuse" himself.

"2. Numerous specific violations of the various bar associations that each of you are members of."

Scalia' comment a few years later was to "get over it."

(See another petition here for the same charges --> http://www.petitiononline.com/senate/petition.html

O'Connor resigned, doubtfully out of shame, but the other judicial traitors, Scalia and Thomas, and Thomas's wife, were soon up to their dirty tricks.

From the laprogressive.com:

"January 2003- Scalia-Cheney Trip Raises Eyebrows – "High Court Justice, VP Go Duck Hunting; Cheney Appeal Is Before The Court" – Scalia: "I do not think my impartiality could reasonably be questioned." The privatized U.S. Energy secret policy meetings were declared legal by a Republican Judge. It had also been reported that W’s secret Energy Czar was Enron’s Kenny Boy LayWhich brings us up to last year, "Common Cause, filed a petition with the Justice Department...asking it to investigate whether Justices Antonin Scalia and Clarence Thomas should have recused themselves in the case, involving Citizens United, because of their attendance at past retreats organized by the conservative financier Charles Koch, whose company operates a foundation that is a major contributor to political advocacy groups.

"Common Cause also cited the role of Mr. Thomas’s wife, Virginia Thomas, in forming a conservative political group opposed to the Obama administration as grounds for his disqualification."

And later on in 2011, Opposing View reported:

"This sounds like a textbook case of conflict of interest: two Supreme Court justices were the featured guests at a dinner sponsored in part by the law firm that will argue against the health care law before the Court. Here's the thing, though -- apparently it is not a conflict at all.

"The Los Angeles Times reports that last Thursday justices Antonin Scalia and Clarence Thomas attended the annual dinner of the Federalist Society, which is dedicated to advancing conservative causes.

"Nearly two dozen firms sponsored the event, among them several high-profile anti-Obamacare advocates including Paul Clement's law firm, Bancroft PLLC."
Naturally, in 2012 both of the Conservative judicial operatives voted against the Affordable Health Care Act's constitutionality.

The impeachment of Thomas and Scalia is long overdue, and no one will predict that those impeachments can occur as long as the Republicans continue to infest the Congress.   The faux impeachment of President Clinton and the absence of impeachment proceedings against Bush 43 tells us the unattractive truth: Republicans are not statesmen.

A retroactive impeachment, with Romney's retroactive resignation at Bain Capital as precedent would come about by necessity when Conservatism is criminalized.

Stupid Is As Stupid Does

From The Science, at this site:

"Republicans obviously resent studies that impugn their intelligence more than they object to other differences, but in all seven studies done about Fox News viewers, they were shown to be the "most consistently uninformed."

"More alarmingly, around the time a survey showed that Republicans were slightly below average IQ and Democrats slightly higher on the average, another study following children to adulthood showed that low-IQ children grew up to be prejudiced, racist Republicans. In *1866* John Stuart Mill, English political philosopher and economist said, "I never meant to say that the Conservatives are generally stupid. I meant to say that stupid people are generally Conservative. I believe that is so obviously and universally admitted a principle that I hardly think any gentleman will deny it."

"And now, almost 150 years later, science has proven it, and we shall attempt to break down these important studies and surveys in future postings."

Someone once said that the Republican Party is composed of a few smart people and a whole lot of dumb ones, and the Republican sheeplet is the perfect candidate for Eric Hoffer's description of mass movements in his True Believer, who "... breed fanaticism, enthusiasm, fervent hope, hatred and intolerance; all of them are capable of releasing a powerful flow of activity in certain departments of life; all of them demand blind faith and singlehearted allegiance."

A quick look (most of us will be unable to spend much time on such idiocy) on the forum of the so-called Free Republic will be enough to verify the intellectually-challenged Conservative sheeplets.

And what do we do with such morons? They aren't the leadership, they are just drones that mindlessly follow the instructions received each morning through Fox "News" and drug addict Rush Limbaugh.

There is the line that Facebook's Chest Strongwell takes, treating the sheeplets with profane scorn -->(
https://www.facebook.com/I.have.one.thousand.balls#!/photo.php?fbid=178514018948140&set=a.172314839568058.39516.120447191421490&type=1&theater) His site is worth exploring on gloomy, rainy days when laughs are few.

But while such fun is effective in driving the poor Conservative robots into hiding, it doesn't eliminate the problem the way that criminalizing Conservatism does.
Erasmus of Rotterdam, in his classic The Praise of Folly, created "Folly," a goddess pretty much conforming to the loud-mouthed stupidity of Conservative followers the person of low intelligence who nevertheless speaks out constantly. "...Nursed by two other nymphs Inebriation and Ignorance, her faithful companions include Philautia (self-love), Kolakia (flattery), Lethe (oblivion), Misoponia (laziness), Hedone (pleasure), Anoia (madness), Tryphe (wantonness) and two gods Komos (intemperance) and Eegretos Hypnos (dead sleep). Folly praises herself endlessly, arguing that life would be dull and distasteful without her. Of earthly existence, Folly pompously states, "you'll find nothing frolic or fortunate that it owes not to me." (http://www.ourcivilisation.com/smartboard/shop/erasmus/intro/intro1.htm)

After Conservatism is criminalized, many of the Conservative followers may have to be treated medically as suffering from mental deficiency, but the one solution is to reeducate the Conservative sheeplets with some modicum of intelligence and non-Authoritarian makeup in their personality to a more logical pattern of thought and to teach them to eliminate the hatred towards others that they learned at their parents' knee.

Only re-education programs would help, and already Texas has anticipated this move by seeking to bar critical thinking skills in public schools. For after the Conservative sheeplets have learned to separate fact from fiction and propaganda from truth, the base of their support at the ballot boxes is gone.

More Republican Sexcapades!

For years, Cliff Schlecter of "Republican Sexcapades" fame has been posting the outing of Family Values Republicans at http://thepoliticalcarnival.net/tag/republican-sexcapades/ , most recently on the story of Florida Lieutenant Governor being implicated in a sex scandal with a female aid - her defense being that  “Well, hey, I can’t possibly be gay [Giggle!] because [Giggle!] I don’t look like a lesbian!”

The Conservative hypocrisies have been documented for eons; over and over, Conservative leaders get exposed for their peccadiloes, while innocent people get hurt because of the Conservative spouting of family values.  The framing of the family value meme is to gain support from the nortoriously intelligence-challenged of the religious right, according to former Bush Aid, David Kuo. --> http://www.cbsnews.com/2100-18560_162-2089778.html

And this isn't confined to the political leadership.  The Conservatives' support in the Evangelical leadership gets outed as much as the laity.

The Advocate.com http://www.advocate.com/society/coming-out/2012/07/27/prominent-antigay-evangelical-blogger-outed-gay reported thus: "Jonathan Merritt, the son of famous evangelist James Merritt, has become a prominent evangelical blogger, writing for, among others, USA Today and The Atlantic (where he most recently wrote about his support of Chick-fil-A).  Turns out he's, as Queerty puts it, also 'a deeply conflicted gay man' who just got busted for canoodling with gay blogger Azariah Southworth.

"Southworth himself said, 'Exposing this truth of Jonathan’s sexual orientation is not an easy decision for me. I take no pleasure in doing this. As I type this my stomach is turning because I know of the backlash he will receive. I have thought about what all of this will mean for him and for me. I base my reasoning in the importance of living an authentic and honest life. We must have radical honesty in the character, intentions and identities of our leaders.'”

Before any Conservative sheeplets report on Democratic hypocrisy, I make the usual point: the ratio of Conservative to Liberal hypocrites, the "family values" meme notwithstanding, is on a par with the ratio of the stars in our Galaxy to our Galaxy. --> http://www.godlikeproductions.com/forum1/message1448028/pg1

Mitt Romney's Skeleton Closet: Scandals, Quotes, and Character

Realchange.org, famed for their publishing of scandals on all candidates for President since 1995, posted their "Skeleton Closet" list of scandals, quote, and revelations of character of this year's presumptive candidate, Willard Mitt Romney - and it's quite extensive....from the introduction:

"Other politicians look at this guy and say, "Wow, that dude is a phony, two-faced, flip-flopping weasel." And that's really saying something.

"But there was a prophecy, the White Horse Prophecy spoken by Joseph Smith himself on May 6,1843 in the presence of Edwin Rushton and Theodore Turley. It holds: "A terrible revolution will take place in the land of America, such as has never been seen before; for the land will be literally left without a supreme government. And every species of wickedness will run rampant."

"Anyway, Mormons (the White Horse) will get rich with gold and minerals, the heathen Chinese will invade a land beyond the Rockies, banks in every nation except England and Utah will fail, and only the White Horse will remain to save the day. (We'll let you guess who the 'Red Horse' and 'Black Horse' represent.)

"This prophecy was discussed when Mitt's dad, George, ran for president, and again when Orrin Hatch ran, and Glenn Beck dogwhistled it after Obama was elected. (No one brought it up with with John Huntsman, though.) The Mormon Church does not endorse it formally, perhaps because of the part about how 'the doings of the "Black" Horse will he terrible' because 'they will have fear of becoming slaves again.' But Mitt Romney and his father admit discussing it during George's presidential run.

"Is now the time for Mitt Romney to ride to America's rescue?  For 'when the Constitution of the United States hangs, as it were, upon a thread as fine as a single silk fiber, they will have to call for the 'Mormon' Elders to save it from utter destruction; and they will step forth and do it.'" (http://www.realchange.org/romney.htm)

And this is only the beginning.  Titles include: Quotes, Out of Touch, For Seamus: Putting His Dog On The Roof, Ill-Gotten Gains, Phoney Varmint Hunter, Predatory Capitalism, Medicaire Fraud That Made Him Rich, Hired Illegal Immigrants, Flat-Out Liar, Draft Dodger And Chickenhawk, and Top Aide Illegally Impersonating Police Officers.

Romney represents the epitome of the Wealthy Conservative in all its criminal glory, a caricature of the Monopoly Man with a sociopathic sincerity replacing the Monopoly Man's cuddliness.

At the rate new scandals and lies are uncovered by journalists, Realchange.org is going to have to revise this up to the day of the GOP Convention.  While George W. Bush may have been the worst and most intellectually challenged of  the Presidential nominess in our nation's history, fairly elected or not, Mr. Romney may be thought of as the biggest liar with the smallest "tell."

Take a look at the man betray not an iota of guilt when he lies through his teeth on t.v.  While most sane people would blush at some of the whoppers he drags out of his, er, head, Romney smiles as though he was just granted entry through the Pearly Gates.

The American people have often voted foolishly, as the regimes of Nixon, Reagan, and the Bush boys shows, but they can hardly be blamed if Conservatism's Poster Boy makes it to the White House.

He's that good.

The problem with his assumption of the Presidency is, of course, is that his rule might be the last nail on the coffin of Democracy.  His election would probably drag Congressional and Senatorial Conservatives in office on Romney's coattails, and with the packed Supreme Court it would only be a matter of a few years before the middle class of the New Deal would be wiped out completely in favor of a new Age of Serfdom And Feudalism.

Three Strikes And You're Out

It isn't often that Conservatives betray their self interests to an extent that the media is surprised by statements from Conservative leaders, but three notable incidents spring to mind: the first from Hyman Greenspan just three years after stepping down from the Federal Reserve, but too late to prevent the country from entering the second Great Depression in less than a hundred years; the second from Sandy Weill, as noted in a recent posting, a former employer of the undersigned, the mail impetus in killing the Glass-Steagall Act, the only thing separating banks from Wall Street; and one of the more mentally and psychologically challenged Republican legislatures in Washington D.C., Senator Jon Kyl, when decrying President Obama's call for help for the Middle Class.

It shouldn't take anyone more than three quotes like these to reveal the fact that there is a class warfare going on, that there always was a class warfare being waged, and that the self(ish)-interests of the wealthy will always promote class warfare:  the wealthy class against the rest of us.

Strike One:

"...almost three years after stepping down as chairman of the Federal Reserve, a humbled Mr. Greenspan admitted that he had put too much faith in the self-correcting power of free markets and had failed to anticipate the self-destructive power of wanton mortgage lending.

'Those of us who have looked to the self-interest of lending institutions to protect shareholders’ equity, myself included, are in a state of shocked disbelief,' he told the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform.'" (http://www.nytimes.com/2008/10/24/business/economy/24panel.html)

Strike Two:

"For years, Sanford J. Weill aggressively pushed a 'bigger is better' philosophy in banking, turning Citigroup into a financial behemoth through a series of ever-larger deals.

"Now, the empire builder wants to break up the banks.

"On Wednesday, Mr. Weill called for a wall between a bank's deposit-taking operations and its risky trading businesses.   In other words, he would like to resurrect the regulation that he once fought.
“'What we should probably do is go and split up investment banking from banking,' Mr. Weill, the former chief executive of Citigroup, told CNBC.  'Have banks do something that’s not going to risk the taxpayer dollars, that’s not going to be too big to fail.'” (http://dealbook.nytimes.com/2012/07/25/weill-calls-for-splitting-up-big-banks/)

Strike Three:

"Declaring that the use of the phrase 'middle class' is 'misguided and wrong and even dangerous,' Kyl argued in a Senate floor speech that (President) Obama is 'spreading economic resentment [that] weakens American values' and ignoring 'the uniquely meritocratic basis of our society.'

“'We have a president who talks incessantly about class, particularly the middle class,' Kyl said.

"'I just think the whole discussion of class is wrong. It's not what we do here in America,' said Kyl, the Senate minority whip.  He added, 'I don't think there's anything called "middle class values" that are different from the values of other people in this country.  Tell me what's different about the values of someone who the president identifies as middle class?'" (http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/07/23/jon-kyl-middle-class-obama_n_1696826.html)

When Conservatives blurt out the truth, consciously or not, no one who understands their underlying motives in protecting the wealthy class is surprised.

The surprise should be that more of us don't realize that thier aims are to create a society where the rich can rule as robber barons, unhampered by laws, and unrestricted by common values of decency and democratic cooperation.

America For Sale: The Road To Oligarchy

With the retirement of Massachusetts Democratic Congressman Barney Franks, the mantle of the Progressive Legislator fell on the 70-year old Senator from Vermont, Bernie Sanders.

The following is a complete reprint of his essay, "America for Sale: A Report on Billionaires Buying the 2012 Election," together with a Huffington Post copy of Senator Sander's testimony when
The Senate Committee on the Judiciary Subcommittee on the Constitution, Civil Rights and Human Rights held a hearing Tuesday on "Taking Back Our Democracy: Responding to Citizens United and the Rise of Super PACs."

"America for Sale: A Report on Billionaires Buying the 2012 Election.Billionaires buying the 2012 elections have a combined $195 billion in wealth, more than the bottom 43% of American households – 50 million families.

So far this year, 26 billionaires have donated more than $61 million to super PACs, according to the Center for Responsive Politics. And, that’s only what has been publically disclosed.

This $61 million does not include about $100 million that Sheldon Adelson has said that he is willing to spend to defeat President Obama; or the $400 million that the Koch brothers have pledged to spend during the 2012 election season.

These 26 billionaires have a combined net worth of $195 billion, which is more than the bottom 43 percent of American households (equal to more than 50 million families in the United States).

(Sources: Federal Reserve’s Survey of Consumer Finances published in June 2012; and the Forbes billionaire list of April 2012. Sylvia A. Allegretto, an economist at the University of California, Berkeley helped us gather the data from the Federal Reserve study to come up with these statistics.)

Here is a list of the billionaires:

1. Sheldon Adelson, owner of the Las Vegas Sands Casino, is worth nearly $25 billion, making him the 14
th wealthiest person in the world and the 7th richest person in America.

While median family income plummeted by nearly 40% from 2007-2010, Mr. Adelson has experienced a nearly eightfold increase in his wealth over the past three years (from $3.4 billion to $24.9 billion).

Forbes recently reported that Adelson is willing to spend a "limitless" amount of money or more than $100 million to help defeat President Obama in November.

While $100 million sounds like a lot, it equals the same percentage of Adelson’s wealth that $300 to $400 does for the typical middle class family (with a net worth of about $77,000).

Sheldon Adelson owns more wealth than the bottom 40.2% of American households or 47.2 million American families.

2. The Kochs (David, Charles, and William) are worth a combined $103 billion, according to Forbes. They have pledged to spend about $400 million during the 2012 election season.

The Kochs own more wealth than the bottom 41.7 percent of American households or more than 49 million Americans.

3. Jim Walton is worth $23.7 billion. He has donated $300,000 to super PACs in 2012.

4. Harold Simmons is worth $9 billion. He has donated $15.2 million to super PACs this year.

5. Peter Thiel is worth $1.5 billion. He has donated $6.7 million to Super PACs this year.

6. Jerrold Perenchio is worth $2.3 billion. He has donated $2.6 million to super PACs this year.

7. Kenneth Griffin is worth $3 billion and he has given $2.08 million to super PACs in 2012.

8. James Simons is worth $10.7 billion and he has given $1.5 million to super Pacs this year.

9. Julian Robertson is worth $2.5 billion and he has given $1.25 million to super PACs this year.

10. Robert Rowling is worth $4.8 billion and he has given $1.1 million to super PACs.

11. John Paulson, the hedge fund manager who made his fortune betting that the sub-prime mortgage market would collapse, is worth $12.5 billion. He has donated $1 million to super PACs.

12. Richard and J.W. Marriott are worth a combined $3.1 billion and they have donated $2 million to super PACs this year.

13. James Davis is worth $1.9 billion and he has given $1 million to super PACs this year.

14. Harold Hamm is worth $11 billion and he has given $985,000 to super PACs this year.

15. Kenny Trout is worth more than $1.2 billion and he has given $900,000 to super PACs this year.

16. Louis Bacon is worth $1.4 billion and he has given $500,000 to super PACs this year.

17. Bruce Kovner is worth $4.5 billion and he has given $500,000 to super PACs this year.

18. Warren Stephens is worth $2.7 billion and he has given $500,000 to super PACs this year.

19. David Tepper is worth $5.1 billion and he has given $375,000 to super PACs this year.

20. Samuel Zell is worth $4.9 billion and he has given $270,000 to super PACs this year.

21. Leslie Wexner is worth $4.3 billion and he has given $250,000 to super PACs this year.

22. Charles Schwab is worth $3.5 billion and he has given $250,000 to super PACs this year.

23. Kelcy Warren is worth $2.3 billion and he has given $250,000 to super PACs this year.

"Taking Back Our Democracy: Responding to Citizens United and the Rise of Super PACs."Mr. Chairman, thank you for convening a hearing on the monumentally important issue of "Taking Back Our Democracy." Unfortunately, that title exactly describes the challenge facing us today.

The history of this country has been the drive toward a more and more inclusive democracy -- a democracy which would fulfill Abraham Lincoln's beautiful phraseology at Gettysburg in which he described America as a nation "of the people by the people for the people."

We all know American democracy has not always lived up to this ideal. When this country was founded, only white male property owners over age 21 could vote. But people fought to change that and we became a more inclusive democracy. After the Civil War, we amended the Constitution to allow non-white men to vote. We became a more inclusive democracy. In 1920, after years of struggle and against enormous opposition, we finally ratified the 19th Amendment, guaranteeing women the right to vote. We became a more inclusive democracy.

In 1965, under the leadership of Martin Luther King, Jr. and others, the great civil rights movement finally succeeded in outlawing racism at the ballot box and LBJ signed the Voting Rights Act. We became a more inclusive democracy.

One year after that, the Supreme Court ruled that the poll tax was unconstitutional, that people could not be denied the right to vote because they were low-income. We became a more inclusive democracy. In 1971, young people throughout the country said; "we are being drafted to go to Vietnam and get killed, but we don't even have the right to vote." The voting age was lowered to 18. We became a more inclusive democracy.

The democratic foundations of our country and this movement toward a more inclusive democracy are now facing the most severe attacks, both economically and politically, that we have seen in the modern history of our country. Tragically, as I say this advisedly, we are well on our way to seeing our great country move toward an oligarchic form of government -- where virtually all economic and political power rest with a handful of very wealthy families. This is a trend we must reverse.

Economically, the United States today has, by far, the most unequal distribution of wealth and income of any major country on earth and that inequality is worse today in America than at any time since the late 1920s.

Today, the wealthiest 400 individuals own more wealth than the bottom half of America -- 150 million people.

Today, one family, the Walton family of Walmart fame, with $89 billion,  own more wealth than the bottom 40 percent of America. One family owns more wealth than the bottom 40 percent.

Today, the top one percent own 40 percent of all wealth, while the bottom sixty percent owns less than 2 percent. Incredibly, the bottom 40 percent of all Americans own just 3/10 of one percent of the wealth of the country.

That is what is going on economically in this country. A handful of billionaires own a significant part of the wealth of America and have enormous control over our economy. What the Supreme Court did in Citizens United is to say to these same billionaires: "You own and control the economy, you own Wall Street, you own the coal companies, you own the oil companies. Now, for a very small percentage of your wealth, we're going to give you the opportunity to own the United States government." That is the essence of what Citizens United is all about -- and that's why it must be overturned.

Let's be clear. Why should we be surprised that one family, worth $50 billion, is prepared to spend $400 million in this election to protect their interests? That's a small investment for them and a good investment. But it is not only the Koch brothers.
There are at least 23 billionaire families who have contributed a minimum of $250,000 each into the political process up to now during this campaign; my guess is that number is really much greater because many of these contributions are made in secret. In other words, not content to own our economy, the one percent want to own our government as well.

The constitutional amendment that Congressman Ted Deutch and I have introduced states the following:

• For-profit corporations are not people, and are not entitled to any rights under the Constitution.
• For-profit corporations are entities of the states, and are subject to regulation by the legislatures of the states, so long as the regulations do not limit the freedom of the press.
• For-profit corporations are prohibited from making contributions or expenditures in political campaigns.
• Congress and the states have the right to regulate and limit all political expenditures and contributions, including those made by a candidate.

I'm proud to say the American people are making their voices heard on this issue -- they are telling us loud and clear it is time to reverse the trend. Six states, including my home state of Vermont, have passed resolutions asking us to pass a constitutional amendment to overturn Citizens United. More than 200 local governments have done the same, including many in Vermont. I'm proud to sponsor one such amendment. My colleagues here, Mr. Baucus, Mr. Udall, and Ms. Edwards, all have good amendments, and I thank them for their hard work on this issue.

To read more about Sanders' Saving American Democracy Amendment, click here.http://www.sanders.senate.gov/savingdemocracy/

Senator Sanders's proposed Constitutional Amendment is an admirable one but will have no chance in the Conservative-documented Congress, nor will it halt the ongoing attempt by oligarchs to take over the Country.

Conservatives are relentless and have the resources and will to continue their criminal conspiracies...they refused to accept the terms of the New Deal, and almost a hundred years later, continue their drive to dismantle all the best parts of its legislation for the People.  While Conservatism is allowed to flourish, Social Security is in danger of being skinned, gutted, and tossed away and Medicare is in imminent danger of being killed outright.

And now, the  Conservative leaders aren't even hiding these goals.  The billionaires' lackeys in the Supreme Court have given them cover and they sense blood and are closing in.

There is no other way that the process to an oligarchical dictatorship of America can be stopped without criminalizing Conservatism. The wealth of the oligarchs is too great, they own the media, they bought the legislative and judicial branches of government, and they operate the voting machines. The only answer to a radical problem is a radical solution.

Outsourcing Leads To Outbanking For The 1%

It isn't often that this site will pass on stories from CNBC (via Yahoo.com), but the following story, "Wealthy Stash $21 Trillion in 'Pirate' Banks" - from the "left-leaning" Tax Justice Network USA - actually reveals the underlying cause of much of the nation's problems:

"There are two banking systems for the wealthy. Private banks. And 'pirate' banks.

"'Pirate banks' form a large and fast-growing virtual banking system that has helped the wealthy hide more than $21 trillion offshore, according to a new report from the left-leaning Tax Justice Network USA.*

"That hidden wealth is costing governments $280 billion a year in lost tax revenue, the report says
"(T)he world's wealthy have between $21 trillion and $32 trillion* stashed offshore, and that the world's top 50 banks collectively manage more than $12 trillion of that money. Smaller banks, investment banks, insurance companies, hedge funds and independent money managers oversaw the rest.

"The $21 trillion to $32 trillion* does not include real estate, yachts, thoroughbreds or gold bricks, which could also increase the number.

"The report says that traditional offshore havens like Switzerland and Singapore hold substantial amounts. But much of the offshore fortune is held in a 'virtual country' - a network of complicated cross-border entities designed to shelter wealth.

"An asset may be 'owned by an anonymous offshore company in one jurisdiction, which is in turn owned by a trust in another jurisdiction, whose trustees are in yet another jurisdiction,' the report said."

In a politically-related story from Politicus USA, "Republicans Spread Despair by Blocking Bill to Bring Jobs Home," note:

"Last Thursday, in another attempt to protect corporations and kill American jobs, Republicans blocked a measure to reward companies that brought jobs back to America, and protect their candidate Willard Romney. Republicans in the Senate refused to allow a vote on a bill, The Bring Jobs Home Act, which provided a 20% tax break for costs related to moving jobs back to the United States, at the same time rescinding deductions for companies that moved operations and jobs overseas. The bill was number one on the President’s congressional "to-do list," but Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell wanted to amend it with an Affordable Care Act repeal and Bush-era tax cuts for the wealthy extension. Republicans cited the U.S. Chamber of Commerce (COC) and National Association of Manufacturers’ opposition to the bill as reason to block a vote. As usual, the COC sent an official edict to Republicans calling the bill misguided and said it "would hamper American worldwide companies’ competitiveness, increase complexity in the Internal Revenue Code, and threaten economic growth." The Chamber told Republicans they would monitor senator’s support, or opposition, for inclusion in their annual "How They Voted Scorecard" for future campaign donation considerations. As usual, Republicans demonstrated that when it comes to whose interests they protect, Americans’ jobs are not within their purview of consideration."

The connection is obvious even to the semi-literate: Conservatives kill Americans' jobs, transfer them to lower-paying employees overseas, then keep the money hidden overseas to avoid paying their rightful share of income taxes. There is no secret now how the offshore system works and even CNBC brazenly reports on the amounts stolen from the U.S. Treasury after the fact.

The Conservative front group, the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, comes as close to the definition of "extortion" imaginable when they threaten any recalcitrant Republicans with their "Scorecard." Surely, there are no GOP legislators left in Congress that would even entertain voting against their wealthy patrones?

* Note: CNBC deliberately underquoted the amount in their headline. While the difference between $32 trillion and $21 trllion may not seem like much to CNBC, to paraphrase the old saw, "a trillion here, a trillion there, and sooner or later you're talking real money." The "left-leaning" crack from CNBC is a contrast to Yahoo.com's report, that describes the Tax Justice Network as an entity that "campaigns against tax havens."  For those of you with a monetary bent, the following information from the Tax Justice Network is here --> http://www.taxjustice.net/cms/front_content.php?idcat=148

Ban The GOP?

Charles Darwin had his Alfred Russel Wallace,  Marx had his Pierre-Joseph Proudhon, ("Pierre-Joseph Proudhon (1809-1865), though more properly considered an anarchist, articulated a hostility toward capitalists that was echoed in the writings of many socialists. His slogan "property is theft" was a handy, if inflammatory, summation of the labor theory of value, and much influenced popular socialism among the working classes. However, like the majority of socialists and Communists, he was not strictly opposed to all private property: one should be free to own one's own home and domestic goods, for instance. What he objected to was property used to extract wealth from the labor of others: factories, mines, railroads, etc." - Introduction to 19th-Century Socialism.), and "Criminalizing Conservatism" was preceded in a way by "Ban The GOP," a prolific poster on the "Democratic Underground."

(See here http://journals.democraticunderground.com/BanTheGOP, here http://journals.democraticunderground.com/, and here http://sync.democraticunderground.com/101717917.)

BanTheGOP.com has the anger needed to cheerlead the removal of such a huge network of crime that Conservatism presents:
"It is imperitive that we seriously look into banning the republican party for GOOD. I am TIRED of people actually accepting the horrific notion that the GOP is a political party. They are NOT. They are an instrument of flagellating their intrusive, insidiously illegal policies on us, and we can NOT just sit here and take it anymore.

"REPUBLICANS NEED TO BE DESTROYED. It is THAT simple. We have to take them out any way possible. The easiest way is to just get Eric Holder to enact the RICO statutes on the party. We have TONS of evidence that the republicans have usurped and bastardized the political process using their captiously crappy capitalist cyst-em.

"I'm sorry, but this is no time to play nice. We need to divert our OWS resources away from the parks and, literally, park in front of EVERY GOP election headquarters in the country. We need to LOUDLY DENOUNCE the nazis running as republicans for ALL offices.

But we respectively insist that the Republican Party is the home of Conservative apparatchiks, the convenient front group for the primary evil doers: the Conservative criminals.  To ban the GOP would only be a temporary inconvenience to the Conservatives.  With all the ease of a CPA circumnavigating unwieldy tax provisions by depositing monies in secret overseas accounts for his grateful clients, the Conservatives would be in action the day after the nullification of the GOP under the banner of, say, the "Tea Party."
"Conservatism" is the name that wealthy sponsors give to their followers to rally under.  Their followers are typically the religious zealot, the Authoritarian Personality, the True Believer that doesn't quite have the intelligence to see beyond memes of "small government," "States' Rights," or "Right To Life," while the wealthy continue to pick their pockets.

The true aim of the Conservative leadership is to dominate the 98 percent of the country that wants to live under a one-man, one-vote system - the democratic system. It has been speculated that our American Revolution may have had as little as a third of the support of the citizenry in 1776.  It will take at least that amount to recognize the pernicious aims of the Conservative leadership before Conservatism is criminalized - by legislation, judicial activism, or revolution.

GOP: Crime Syndicate And Kooky Cult

Seasoned journalist, and Texan Len Hart, of the famed website "The Existentialist Cowboy," (http://existentialistcowboy.blogspot.com/) wrote an essay last November  that examined the GOP and found it to be both a crime syndicate AND a "kooky cult."

From Hart:

The International Cultic Studies Associantion lists the defining characteristics of a 'cult'.  I fully agree with the 'list' and also the assertion that the GOP meets most of several atttributes, perhaps all characteristics that define the word 'cult'.

Here is the list as 'published':
  1. The group displays excessively zealous and unquestioning commitment to its leader and (whether he is alive or dead) regards his belief system, ideology, and practices as the Truth, as law.
  2. The leadership dictates, sometimes in great detail, how members should think, act, and feel (for example, members must get permission to date, change jobs, marry—or leaders prescribe what types of clothes to wear, where to live, whether or not to have children, how to discipline children, and so forth).
  3. The group is elitist, claiming a special, exalted status for itself, its leader(s) and members (for example, the leader is considered the Messiah, a special being, an avatar—or the group and/or the leader is on a special mission to save humanity).
  4. The group has a polarized us-versus-them mentality, which may cause conflict with the wider society.
  5. The group teaches or implies that its supposedly exalted ends justify whatever means it deems necessary.  This may result in members’ participating in behaviors or activities they would have considered reprehensible or unethical before joining the group (for example, [torture,] lying to family or friends, or collecting money for bogus charities).
  6. The most loyal members (the “true believers”) feel there can be no life outside the context of the group.  They believe there is no other way to be, and often fear reprisals to themselves or others if they leave (or even consider leaving) the group.

Hart goes on to say, "It has always been my belief --stated often on this blog, FB, 'The Opinion', NPR, and various other forums on the internet --that the GOP is not a political party.  Rather, it has characteristics of kooky cults and an organized crime syndicates."

And he also notes:

I have many issues with the Democratic party but being GOP-lite is not one of them.  For all their faults, 'being as bad as the GOP' is NOT among them.  I can cite three essential and defining characteristics that distinguish Democrats from the cult of GOPism:
  • EVERY Dem has presided over greater GDP and JOB GROWTH than has ANY Republican Prez since 1900;
  • EVERY GOP 'tax cut' has been followed by a recession/depression.
  • EVERY GOP TAX CUT has resulted in the transfer of wealth UPWARD to a 'ruling elite' which is now just ONE PERCENT of the total population.
Those fact are at the core of the Occupation Movement!  A corollary is this:  EVERY recession/depression since 1900 has occurred during a GOP administration and as a result of GOP policy.

Hart's most recent essay, "How Progressives Can Take Back America," http://existentialistcowboy.blogspot.com/2012/07/how-progressives-can-take-back-america.html notes:

Progressives' best chance for changing the fascist direction taken by American politics may be found in a book that was, in fact, appropriated if not usurped by the GOP.  I have in mind one Saul Alinsky whose 'Rules for Radical', written for a liberal, left leaning movement owing much to FDR and war opponents like Eugene Debs.

Interestingly, it is the GOP which has made more effective use of the strategies and tactics than have liberals or Democrats for whom 'Rules for Radicals' was written.  It is cited in GOP campaign manuals, practiced in almost every campaign.  I have personal knowledge of that, having acquired a few GOP 'campaign manuals' at a time when Tom DeLay was building a conservative machine while gerrymandering the state of Texas.

Alinsky advises 'activists' to work inside the existing system, to utilize the existing networks and/or infrastructure. Starting from scratch is inefficient, time consuming, wasteful of time and resources.  Democrats have an infrastructure in place already. Use it! As ALINSKY himself said:
"There's another reason for working inside the system.  Dostoevski said that taking a new step is what people fear most.  Any revolutionary change must be preceded by a passive, affirmative, non-challenging attitude toward change among the mass of our people.  They must feel so frustrated, so defeated, so lost, so futureless in the prevailing system that they are willing to let go of the past and change the future."
--Saul Alinsky
Alinsky's Rules:

  • RULE 1: “Power is not only what you have, but what the enemy thinks you have.” Power is derived from 2 main sources – money and people. “Have-Nots” must build power from flesh and blood. (These are two things of which there is a plentiful supply. Government and corporations always have a difficult time appealing to people, and usually do so almost exclusively with economic arguments.)
  • RULE 2: “Never go outside the expertise of your people.” It results in confusion, fear and retreat. Feeling secure adds to the backbone of anyone. (Organizations under attack wonder why radicals don’t address the “real” issues. This is why. They avoid things with which they have no knowledge.)
  • RULE 3: “Whenever possible, go outside the expertise of the enemy.” Look for ways to increase insecurity, anxiety and uncertainty. (This happens all the time. Watch how many organizations under attack are blind-sided by seemingly irrelevant arguments that they are then forced to address.)
  • RULE 4: “Make the enemy live up to its own book of rules.” If the rule is that every letter gets a reply, send 30,000 letters. You can kill them with this because no one can possibly obey all of their own rules. (This is a serious rule. The besieged entity’s very credibility and reputation is at stake, because if activists catch it lying or not living up to its commitments, they can continue to chip away at the damage.)
  • RULE 5: “Ridicule is man’s most potent weapon.” There is no defense. It’s irrational. It’s infuriating. It also works as a key pressure point to force the enemy into concessions. (Pretty crude, rude and mean, huh? They want to create anger and fear.)
  • RULE 6: “A good tactic is one your people enjoy.” They’ll keep doing it without urging and come back to do more. They’re doing their thing, and will even suggest better ones. (Radical activists, in this sense, are no different that any other human being. We all avoid “un-fun” activities, and but we revel at and enjoy the ones that work and bring results.)
  • RULE 7: “A tactic that drags on too long becomes a drag.” Don’t become old news. (Even radical activists get bored. So to keep them excited and involved, organizers are constantly coming up with new tactics.)
  • RULE 8: “Keep the pressure on. Never let up.” Keep trying new things to keep the opposition off balance. As the opposition masters one approach, hit them from the flank with something new. (Attack, attack, attack from all sides, never giving the reeling organization a chance to rest, regroup, recover and re-strategize.)
  • RULE 9: “The threat is usually more terrifying than the thing itself.” Imagination and ego can dream up many more consequences than any activist. (Perception is reality. Large organizations always prepare a worst-case scenario, something that may be furthest from the activists’ minds. The upshot is that the organization will expend enormous time and energy, creating in its own collective mind the direst of conclusions. The possibilities can easily poison the mind and result in demoralization.)
  • RULE 10: “If you push a negative hard enough, it will push through and become a positive.” Violence from the other side can win the public to your side because the public sympathizes with the underdog. (Unions used this tactic. Peaceful [albeit loud] demonstrations during the heyday of unions in the early to mid-20th Century incurred management’s wrath, often in the form of violence that eventually brought public sympathy to their side.)
  • RULE 11: “The price of a successful attack is a constructive alternative.” Never let the enemy score points because you’re caught without a solution to the problem. (Old saw: If you’re not part of the solution, you’re part of the problem. Activist organizations have an agenda, and their strategy is to hold a place at the table, to be given a forum to wield their power. So, they have to have a compromise solution.)
  • RULE 12: Pick the target, freeze it, personalize it, and polarize it.” Cut off the support network and isolate the target from sympathy. Go after people and not institutions; people hurt faster than institutions. (This is cruel, but very effective. Direct, personalized criticism and ridicule works.)

  • --Saul Alinsky, Rules for Radicals

Alinsky's strategies are food for thought in the battle to criminalize Conservatism, but they are only a mix of strategies and tactics.  Remember: The total objective of all true lovers of democracy in America is to criminalize Conservatism.

    A Holiday

"Criminalize Conservatism" is taking a one-day holiday because of a flu bug that has taken this writer down for the day.

I urge you to examine  the tabs towards the top of the page, though - "The Birth of This Blog," "Joyce, Jnr," "The Science," "Objections Rebutted," "Punishments," "Conservative Rhetoric," and "Read First."

I had intended on having a Blog List and Reading List on this page long before today, but my intentions were halted by other contingencies.  A study was done some years ago, where the respondents to a questionaire declared that "there wasn't enough time in the day to do everything I wanted to do," and the respondents' ages were between five and eighty five.

Closer to eighty five than five, I understand the feeling wholeheartedly.

Have a wonderful day and don't let the Conservative criminal leaders nor their moronic lackeys beat you down!

    Legislative Remedies To Criminalize Conservatism

Beginning in 1789 with John Adams' Alien And Sedition Act, the United States has attempted through the 1930s to enact laws setting "...criminal penalties for advocating the overthrow of the U.S. government and requir(ing) all non-citizen adult residents to register with the government.

Approximately 215 people were indicted under the legislation, including alleged communists, Trotskyites, and fascists. Prosecutions under the Smith Act continued until a series of United States Supreme Court decisions in 1957 reversed a number of convictions under the Act as unconstitutional. The statute has been amended several times."

Thanks to Jim Bryant, the following links were provided to help explain some of the historical events intertwined within the Act:

http://www.law.cornell.edu/uscode/text/18/2385 provides us with an overview of 18 USC § 2385 - Advocating overthrow of Government, where:

"Whoever knowingly or willfully advocates, abets, advises, or teaches the duty, necessity, desirability, or propriety of overthrowing or destroying the government of the United States or the government of any State, Territory, District or Possession thereof, or the government of any political subdivision therein, by force or violence, or by the assassination of any officer of any such government; or

Whoever, with intent to cause the overthrow or destruction of any such government, prints, publishes, edits, issues, circulates, sells, distributes, or publicly displays any written or printed matter advocating, advising, or teaching the duty, necessity, desirability, or propriety of overthrowing or destroying any government in the United States by force or violence, or attempts to do so; or

"Whoever organizes or helps or attempts to organize any society, group, or assembly of persons who teach, advocate, or encourage the overthrow or destruction of any such government by force or violence; or becomes or is a member of, or affiliates with, any such society, group, or assembly of persons, knowing the purposes thereof—

"Shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than twenty years, or both, and shall be ineligible for employment by the United States or any department or agency thereof, for the five years next following his conviction.

"If two or more persons conspire to commit any offense named in this section, each shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than twenty years, or both, and shall be ineligible for employment by the United States or any department or agency thereof, for the five years next following his conviction.

"As used in this section, the terms 'organizes' and 'organize', with respect to any society, group, or assembly of persons, include the recruiting of new members, the forming of new units, and the regrouping or expansion of existing clubs, classes, and other units of such society, group, or assembly of persons."

    http://caselaw.lp.findlaw.com/cgi-bin/getcase.pl?court=us&vol=341&invol=494 explains DENNIS v. UNITED STATES, 341 U.S. 494 (1951); http://caselaw.lp.findlaw.com/scripts/getcase.pl?court=us&vol=354&invol=298 explains YATES v. UNITED STATES, 354 U.S. 298 (1957), http://caselaw.lp.findlaw.com/cgi-bin/getcase.pl?court=US&vol=367&invol=290 explains NOTO v. UNITED STATES, 367 U.S. 290 (1961), and http://caselaw.lp.findlaw.com/cgi-bin/getcase.pl?court=US&vol=367&invol=203 covers SCALES v. UNITED STATES, 367 U.S. 203 (1961).

These cases are a start for showing our lawmakers how to implement further legislation to criminalize Conservatism. Much of the "anti-American" furor of Joe McCarthy in the 1950s was misguided and used as tools by Conservatives to instill hate and fear in the populace.  It's time for these tools to be used to bring down the evil of Conservatism.

Grover Norquist, the Conservative consigliere who made more than 270 members of Congress, and nearly all of the 2012 Republican presidential primary candidates, sign a pledge promising never to vote to raise taxes, and one of the most important people in Washington D. C., is famous for two things: avoiding the prosecution that brought down capo Jack Abramoff down and most famously, for voicing the final goal of the Conservatives - "I'm not in favor of abolishing the government. I just want to shrink it down to the size where we can drown it in the bathtub."

Norquist also said that his goal was to take us back to the time "up until Teddy Roosevelt when the socialists took over. The income tax, the death tax, regulation, all that."

The confidence of the Conservatives going into the 2012 Election is staggering; their rhetoric seems to tell us that they know that they are taking the House, Senate, and White House and don't care if the People know what their true motives are - as if they know no one can do anything to stop them.
The last time the Conservatives were so blantantly honest about their goals was in the Presidentila Election of 1800, where their defeat made them realize that they should never, never reveal their true goals if they wanted to win offices in a democratic repubic.

You'd think that they know that they have the numbers to win based on the numbers of Democratic-leaning voters they've eliminated through voter suppression laws, by the numbers of Democratic-leaning voters they're going to eliminate by voter intimidation and miscounting of ballots, and by the coup de grace of the modern day election tabulation - voter machine hacking.
If the worst happens, the only way we will know if the 2012 Election was rigged is through exit polling. And watch the Conservative bully-boys decry the scientific method used in exit polling.
