Grand Opening - Politicians For Sale!

Those of my generation, and older, were brought up on gangster films starring Humphrey Bogart, James Cagney, George Raft and Edward G. Robinson. A common theme with their films and countless others such as The Godfather  and the brilliant Academy and Golden Globe Award film, Born Yesterday, was the link between organized crime and politicians: no gangster of any note was free from prosecution without buying a politician or two.

In Born Yesterday, "Uncouth tycoon Harry Brock goes to Washington, D.C. with his brassy mistress, Emma 'Billie' Dawn, and his crooked lawyer, Jim Devery, to "influence" a politician or two."

And in Psmith, Journalist, a comic novel by Englishman P.G. Wodehouse, creator of the team of Bertie and Jeeves, the following dialogue illustrates a common way of life in New York City in the twenties:

"...Did you ever hear of Monk Eastman?"

"I fancy not, Comrade Windsor.  If I did, the

name has escaped me.   Who was this cleric?"

"He was the first boss of the East Side

gang, before Kid Twist took it on."

"Yes?"

"He was arrested dozens of times, but he

always got off.  Do you know what he said once, when they pulled him for thugging

a fellow out in New Jersey?"

"I fear not, Comrade Windsor.  Tell me

all."

"He said, 'You're arresting me, huh?  Say,

you want to look where you're goin'; I cut some ice in this town. I made half

the big politicians in New York!'   That was what he said."

The Citizens United case that the Supreme Court decided on that ultimately legalizing bribery in the U.S. "...in which the Court held that the First Amendment prohibited the government from restricting independent political expenditures by corporations and unions..." guarantees a return to the Good Old Days, where mob leaders and "legitimate businessmen" like Harry Brock in the persona of the Kock brothers and Newt Gingrich's casino owner Sheldon Adelson will buy GOP votes at will.

"In the United States, the Organized Crime Control Act (1970) defines organized crime as "The unlawful activities of [...] a highly organized, disciplined association [...]".[3] Criminal activity as a structured group is referred to as racketeering and such crime is commonly referred to as the work of the Mob." (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Organized_crime)

"The unlawful activities of [...] a highly organized, disciplined association," the Conservative crime syndicate, are now wrapped into a tighter package than even envisioned by the gangsters of yesteryear, thanks to the Supreme Court Five - the politicians and their contributors are now as one.

Our lawmakers - from our city councils to our Congress, our chief executives - from small town mayors to the President of the United States, and our judges - from justices of the peace to the Supreme Court justices, will now be owned by the wealthiest in our country, aided by the simple tool of money from unrestricted political contributions plunged into the coffers of the worst of our politicians - the greedy and the power-hungry.

And our democracy, the democracy of We The People, will be lost.

Before it's too late, criminalize Conservatism!

Conservative Followers: The True Believers

Eric Hoffer, the self-described "longshoreman philosopher" wrote the definitive work describing the participants in mass movements - The True Believer, a short, yet brilliant tome explaining the typical make-up of the leaders and followers of mass movements like Nazism, Christianity, Islam, the Ku Klux Klan, and the modern-day phenomena of Conservatism, together with it's spin-off movement, the Tea Party.

Though written in 1951, The True Believer is completely relevant today to help understand the demagogic nature of Conservatism. Wikipedia summarizes Hoffer's mindset when writing The True Believer,
"Concerned about the rise of totalitarian governments, especially those of Adolf Hitler and Joseph Stalin, he tried to find the roots of these 'madhouses' in human psychology.  He postulated that fanaticism and self-righteousness are rooted in self-hatred, self-doubt, and insecurity.  In The True Believer he claimed that a passionate obsession with the outside world or the private lives of others was an attempt to compensate for a lack of meaning in one's own life. The book discusses religious and political mass movements, and extensive discussions of Islamand and Christianity.  A core principle in the book is Hoffer's assertion that mass movements are interchangeable: fanatical Nazis became fanatical Communists, fanatical Communists became fanatical anti-Communists, and Saul, persecutor of Christians, became Paul, a fanatical Christian. For the 'true believer', substance is less important than being part of a movement."

The True Believer, under the complete control of the often charismatic leader, is not the Average Man suddenly caught up in an uplifting moral crusade, the square jawed crusader nobly on the lookout for evildoers, but more often the dispossessed outcast: the misfit, outcast, minority, adolescent, the ambitious, the obsessed, the impotent in mind or body, and certain categories of the poor, the extremely selfish, the bored, and the sinners.

Wikipedia notes Hoffer's belief, that the rapid change engendered by "mass movements and juvenile mindsets tend to go together, to the point that anyone, no matter what age, who joins a mass movement immediately begins to exhibit juvenile behavior."
Hoffer writes that "...all mass movements strive to impose a fact proof screen between the faithful and the realities of the world.  And, that that faith becomes the things the fanatic declines to see.  He avers how startling it is to realize how much unbelief is necessary to make belief possible, and that faith manifests itself not in moving mountains, but in not seeing mountains move. He say's that in the context of mass movement's faith should not be judged by its profundity, sublimity, or truth but by how thoroughly it insulates the individual from himself and the world as it is."

The mental makeup of the sheep of the Conservative shepherd-leaders is no different than that of the followers of David Koresh or the followers of Jim Jones who willingly surrendered to his Jonestown Kool Aid mass suicide.   Hoffer notes one of Hitler's musings, "If the Jew did not exist, we should have had to invent him.  We must have a tangible enemy, not merely an abstract one."   As stated here so often, the calls of "liberty," "balanced budgets," "right to life," "family values," and the rest are merely memes tailor made for the confused followers, themes that are interchangeable with others and meant only to "rally the troops."

Hoffer notes that the theme of liberty is a disconnect for the True Believer, in our case the Conservative True Believer - "They who clamor loudest for freedom are often the ones least likely to be happy in a free society.  The frustrated, oppressed by their shortcomings, blame their failure on existing restraints.  Actually, their innermost desire is for an end to the 'free for all.' They want to eliminate free competition and the ruthless testing to which the individual is continually subjected in a free society."

The absolute certainty in the dogma professed by Limbaugh and other Conservative leaders are accepted in toto by his "dittoheads" and acerbic participants in the Free Republic Forum are explained by Hoffer's observation, "We can be absolutely certain only about things we do not understand."

From a reviewer of the book, the mass movement leaders implement their strategies through manipulating their followers thus:

1. Separating them from the real self by means of assimilation into the collective.
2. Creating a make-believe self or a collective show.
3. Making them hate the present and worship the future; the present is not only portrayed as miserable but is deliberately made so.
4. Separating them from reality with the wall of dogma. Observation and experience are rejected in favor of doctrine which provides certitude.
5. Keeping them in a state of fanaticism by inflaming passions and breaking down the will, thus transforming them into automatons. Reason is ineffective in trying to free a fanatic from these mental chains.

When Conservatism is finally outlawed, thought must be given to re-educating the followers; their fates should not be those of the leadership who used their "juvenile mindsets," they should be helped, not punished.

M. Lamar Keene, in his version of the True Believer, wrote:  "The true -believer syndrome merits study by science.  What is it that compels a person, past all reason, to believe the unbelievable.  How otherwise can a sane individual become so enamored of a fantasy, an imposture, that even if it's exposed in the bright light of day, he still clings to it -- indeed, clings to it all the harder?"  (http://www.skepdic.com/truebeliever.html)

Criminalizing Conservatism Through Congressional Action - The Two-Party System Issue

I provided a link to an international list of political parties yesterday, http://www.politicsresources.net/parties.htm, to illustrate the fact that political parties and factions evove from interests in almost an innumerable fashion.

Today's post will contain links to other articles that list political parties other than those in a two-party system, showing the undereducated or uninformed that multiple party systems do indeed exist in other countries. The two-party system, in fact, often blurs the distinctions between factions, resulting in the voter apathy so prevalent in the U. S.

Even at present, other parties are players in the U. S. - the Green Party, the Libetarian Party, and the Constitution Party - and there are thirty six other national parties in existence! (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_political_parties_in_the_United_States)

And that's not all. Within the States, there are thirty two other parties, plus four more in Puerto Rico and one in the Virgin Islands.

Historians can point to sixty eight political parties active in the U. S. in the past, and we can also see that there are thirty non-electoral organizations who "...do not nominate candidates for but otherwise function similarly to political parties, (and) (s)ome of them have nominated candidates in the past."

And for a list of "frivilous parties" around the world, including the Beer Lovers Party, the Donald Duck Party, and the Double-tailed Dog Party, please take a peek at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_frivolous_political_parties.

Third-party politics have influenced Presidential elections in the past, though elbowed out of the way by the major parties sooneer or later, another fact of life in a two-party system.

It takes little thought to realize that the elimination of Conservatism doesn't mean that the remaining factions will be in agreement.  Recent history shows us that the battles between environmentalist and labor groups will be ongoing and vocal.

Whether or not a two-party Congress will open the gates to a multiple-party system is moot.   After the criminalization of Conservatism is realized, the election of congressional candidates sympathetic to the ability of all interests to speak out and be represented, must be a reality.

Criminalizing Conservatism Through Congressional Action - The Free Speech Issue

The most common objection to criminalizing Conservatism is the First Amendment "Free Speech" issue - even by those on the left.  The second most prevalent objection, also promulgated by Progressives who should know better, is the perception that a two-party system is sacrosanct - a joke to those in other countries who have had a long history of multiple parties. (http://www.politicsresources.net/parties.htm)  And he number of progressive factions who can replace the front group Republican Party should the outlawing of Conservatism be combined with campaing finance reform to eliminate legalized fat-cat bribery is legion.

The free speech issue must be looked at in a new context.

From Legal Zoom:

"Exceptions to free speech have arisen over the years when the government has decided the speech could cause substantial harm to the public, is not speech originally intended to be protected by the Bill of Rights, or other case-specific reasons. In any event, when deciding whether an instance of suppression of free speech is constitutional, the courts must weigh the importance of the freedom of speech against potential dangers if the speech is allowed." (http://www.legalzoom.com/us-law/freedom-speech/free-speech-primer-what-can)

In a recent article by Chuck Goudie at the dailyherald.com , Mr. Goudie noted:

"Perhaps more than any other part of the Constitution, the First Amendment right of "free speech" gets cited by Americans.

"Wrongly so.

"From an eighth-grader suspended for recording a song about why his teacher should be dead to the gay community members whose parade has been rerouted, the chorus sounds the same: ‘My right to free speech is being violated.’

"The problem with that is: The Constitution doesn’t guarantee you ‘free speech.’

"Despite what many seem to believe, the ‘freedom of speech’ guarantee in the Constitution doesn’t give you the right to say anything you want, anywhere you want.

"The First Amendment makes it unconstitutional for government to suppress speech (and ‘expression’ as it has come to include). That’s it.

"There are numerous exceptions to that, well beyond just the popular citation of the ‘yelling fire in a crowded theater’ kind of speech that is prohibited. Under the Constitution, the courts allow for many types of dangerous speech to be regulated or banned by law.

"Child pornography, defamation and inciting crimes are just a few examples of speech that has been determined to be illegal under the U.S. Constitution."

Congress's ability to criminalize Conservatism will not be based on a new, radical definition of free speech, it will be derived from precedent that outlaws speech that is dangerous to the health of the majority of the people in a free society.

Just a short list of Conservatism's recent crimes against our citizenry include the blocking of cancer screening for women through the War On Planned Parenthood; the increase of children's malnutrition due to cuts in Food stamps; lives ruined by refusal to provide abortions to women in the military who are victims of rape; and homicides through lax gun laws in the guise of "gun ownership rights."

Another short list of crimes if we go back in time:  add our military deaths and the Iraqi civilian deaths in Bush 43's Iraqi invasion to the list, another boon to the defense industry, and unwittingly named (O)peration (I)raqi (L)iberation until it was hastily changed to Operation Iraqi Freedom; a myriad of tax policies causing misery to the poor and middle class; and vote theft, voter suppression, and voter intimidation that may still prove to be a factor in the 2012 Election.

To detail just one example of the Conservatives machinations in Congress leading to death and disease for the American people, 50 million Americans are still without health care .  From Dr Wayne Smitherman at Wayne State University in a recent "Up With Chris Hayes" show, "But remember in 2010, when the Republicans took the House, one of the things that came up was they wanted $100 billion cut right away in the budget. The cut came down to $38.5 billion. What that meant was, the $250 million to build 350 new primary care sites throughout the United States was cut from $250 million to $29 million which means instead of 350 sites across the nation, we actually only had enough money in that first year for 67 sites."

Conservatives teach 'em while they're young
This site will remain standing as long as examples like this remain, examples of the organized criminality of the Conservative leadership - remain, that is, until Conservatism is finally made illegal. Trying to list Conservative depredations through their front group the Republican Party in one sitting is akin to listing all the stars in our galaxy in ten minutes.

Criminalizing Conservatism Through Congressional Action, Preface.

Criminalizing Conservatism Through Congressional Action, Preface.

A post from Quora.com from earlier in the year, answering the question of the viability of criminalizing conservatism in America, deserves to be quoted extensively - including the comments to the post:

How did Germany ban Nazism after World War Two when there must still have been millions of former Nazis around?
2 Answers

Denazification was imposed on the post-war German government by the Allies. The Potsdam agreement outlined the goals and scope of denazification:

http://en.wikisource.org/wiki/Po...

Potsdam also set up the Allied Control Commission which ran the denazification program in occupied Germany.

In the US Zone, five categories of participation were established: major offenders, activists or incriminated persons, less incriminated, followers and exonerated or non-incriminated persons. Adults were required to submit forms describing their participation in the Nazi regime and were classified according to the categories by special courts. Penalties could range from criminal prosecution to banning from professional work.

The newly established government of West Germany pushed hard to end the denazification program and the US relented in 1951. West Germany went on to pass sweeping amnesty laws pardoning almost 800,000 Germans, including tens of thousands convicted under the denazification program.

Christopher Huang What happened culturally and socially after 1951?

Thomas Poirier Each zone had its own approach, with the 3 western allies eventually converged. Patton is famously supposed to have said that he couldn't run municipalities without them.

Michael S Goodman,

Also, public display of the cosmetic symbols of Nazism (primarily the Swastika) was (and stlll is) banned, as are groups which the authorities feel to be direct proponents of Nazism and/or of outright denial of the Holocaust, a recent such example being the now banned "Wiking-Jugend".
Thomas Poirier They even put tape over swastikas on memorabilia in open air flea markets.

Michael S Goodman ...and the same in the case of on-line catalogs of auction houses in Germany that specialize in memorabilia of that period.

----------

After a few years, the US relented in going along with Germany's quest to make sure that Nazism was buried forever. Germany's actions pose an interesting framework in outlawing Conservatism in this country.

In 2004, Germany extended the ban to the internet: "German authorities have the right to block Web pages containing extremist content, and the cross-border character of the Internet can't undermine powers vested to the federal states, (an) administrative court in Arnsberg, Germany, ruled..." (
http://www.computerworld.com/s/article/98442/German_court_upholds_Web_ban_on_Nazi_content)

After all these years, Germany is still infested with neo-Nazis and is seeking to expel their party, the NPD. (
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-18429463) and (http://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&frm=1&source=web&cd=7&ved=0CFoQFjAG&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.thelocal.de%2Fpolitics%2F20120323-41513.html&ei=L9HpT5jbNseY8AGPvYSRDA&usg=AFQjCNHSAoX4E3ar2UwZ2qtupT19lcZgcQ)

Make no mistake, ridding our country of the evils of Conservatism will prove as difficult. The corporatist aspect of Nazism is not uncoincidentally related to the tenets of Conservatism, and if vigilance is the price of liberty, Conservatism must be outlawed forever.

Criminalize Conservatism With The RICO Act.

Subsequent to his fourth missive yesterday, and although he was directed to clear his head for a week before re-posting here again, our dear Comrade, Mr. Right, shot a parting question, the answer to which was actually planned for a future post:  "One more question. Under what constitutional authority precisely do you propose that we abolish Conservatism? Please be precise."

As your comments have been so helpful in illuminating the Conservative mind to other readers, your wish is our command, Mr. Right!

Part One of my reply today will demonstrate just one of the legal remedies available to combat the Conservative menace, a piece of legislation, strangely enough, not deemed unconstitutional by the SCOTUS Right Wing Five - the RICO Act.

"The Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt
Organizations Act, commonly referred to as
the RICO Act or simply RICO, is a United States
federal law that provides for extended criminal
penalties and a civil cause of action for acts
performed as part of an ongoing criminal
organization.  The RICO Act focuses specifically
on racketeering, and it allows for the leaders of a
syndicate to be tried for the crimes which they
ordered others to do or assisted them, closing a
perceived loophole that allowed someone who
told a man to, for example, murder, to be
exempt from the trial because they did not
actually do it.
"RICO was enacted by section 901(a) of the
Organized Crime Control Act of 1970 (Pub.L.
91-452, 84 Stat. 922, enacted October 15,
1970). RICO is codified as Chapter 96 of Title 18
of the United States Code, 18 U.S.C. § 1961–
1968. While its original use in the 1970's was to
prosecute the Mafia as well as others who were
actively engaged in organized crime, its later
application has been more widespread."

And Wikipedia's definition of a criminal organization: "organized crime or criminal organizations
are transnational, national, or local groupings of
highly centralized enterprises run by criminals
for the purpose of engaging in illegal activity,
most commonly for monetary profit. Some
criminal organizations, such as terrorist
organizations, are politically motivated."

And racketeering:  "A racket is an illegal business, usually run as
part of organized crime. Engaging in a racket is
called racketeering.
"Several forms of racket exist. The best-known is
the protection racket, in which criminals
demand money from businesses in exchange for
the service of "protection" against crimes that
the racketeers themselves instigate if unpaid
(see extortion). A second example is the
numbers racket, a form of illegal lottery.
"Traditionally, the word racket is used to describe
a business (or syndicate) that is based on the
example of the protection racket and indicates a
belief that it is engaged in the sale of a solution
to a problem that the institution itself creates or
perpetuates, with the specific intent to
engender continual patronage. One example is
computer spyware that pretends to be
detecting infections and offers to download a
cleaning utility for a fee, being itself distributed
by the maker of the cleaning utility."

Famous prosecutions under RICO include the Hells Angels Motorcycle Club, the Key West Police Department, the notorious Drexel Burnham Lambert employee Michael Milken, and various "Pro-Life," Mafia family heads and Catholic child abuse cases.

To meet the test of prosecution,  Wikipedia continues:

"Pattern of racketeering activity requires at
least two acts of racketeering activity, one of
which occurred after the effective date of this
chapter and the last of which occurred within
ten years (excluding any period of
imprisonment) after the commission of a prior
act of racketeering activity. The U.S. Supreme
Court has instructed federal courts to follow the
continuity-plus-relationship test in order to
determine whether the facts of a specific case
give rise to an established pattern. Predicate
acts are related if they "have the same or similar
purposes, results, participants, victims, or
methods of commission, or otherwise are
interrelated by distinguishing characteristics
and are not isolated events." (H.J. Inc. v.
Northwestern Bell Telephone Co.) Continuity is
both a closed and open ended concept,
referring to either a closed period of conduct, or
to past conduct that by its nature projects into
the future with a threat of repetition."

Penalties of fines and imprisonment to the guilty we shall leave to your own vivid imagination, Mr. Right, and while I admit that RICO provides only a stop-gap measure to criminalize the Conservative criminal conspiracy, I know you'll join me in saying that it's a start. Further essays will ponder specific legislation to rid ourselves permanently of this pernicious and abominable disease.

After World War II, Germany enacted legislation necessary to make sure that the evils of Nazism could not rise again. While the resulting deaths of our citizenry in America resulting from Conservative acts over the years haven't been defined as starkly - or even revealed by the corporate media - as the deaths of those under Nazism,  the Corporate media will ignore the overwhelming data at their peril.

Centuries of Conservative crimes can be cited to meet the RICO test, from the gathering of the first Conservatives under Hamilton to the years of GOP Nazi sympathizers in the forties to...now.

Organized crime figures don't always wear gats under coats: Conservatism's core agenda is to destroy the Constitution and to restore feudalism, and their criminal activities are results of implementing and protecting that agenda.

The Conservative shysters and political hacks now in control of the Supreme Court will take years to be replaced by the simple expediency of their deaths, unless they are "persuaded" to resign - as Tory judges in Western Massachusetts were forced to author their own walking papers by mobs of Colonial citizens - or impeached for bad behavior, as vaguely provided for by the Constitution.

Ridding our democracy of organized Conservatism through the courts is but a first step, and the more "final solutions" will come about when the will of the People coalesces into the solidarity needed to elect a President and congressional majority to execute that will.

Thank you for coming to this site, Criminalize Conservatism, Mr. Right -  you have my sincere thanks for helping to assist us in our Cause!

"A Small Elite With Vast Wealth Is Good For The Poor And Middle Class?"

"Having a small elite with vast wealth is good for the poor and middle class," says Romney former partner, protege, current pal, and secret donor, Edward Conard. (http://www.nationalconfidential.com/20110806/ed-conrad-secret-romney-donor-was-ally-at-job-killing-bain-capital/)

Yup, every day that goes by another Conservative says that the Wealthy One Percent should rule the rest of us. In a recent New York Times article, Adam Davidson interviewed Conservative magnate Edward Conard, author of the upcoming book, Unintended Consequences: Why Everything You’ve Been Told About the Economy Is Wrong," a treatise showing us why the the wealthy are entitled to even more of the economic and political pie that their Republican lackeys in Congress and the White House have given them through tax giveaways, loopholes, and deregulation.

http://www.nytimes.com/2012/05/06/magazine/romneys-former-bain-partner-makes-a-case-for-inequality.html?_r=1&pagewanted=all

"As for exotic derivatives, Conard doesn’t see a problem. He argues that collateralized-debt obligations, credit-default swaps, mortgage-backed securities and other (now deemed toxic) financial products were fundamentally sound. They were new tools that served a market need for the world’s most sophisticated investors, who bought them in droves. And they didn’t cause the panic anyway, he says; the withdrawals did.

"Unintended Consequences" only mentions Romney by name once (and in the acknowledgments, at that), but Conard hopes that the arguments detailed in his book will help readers understand why it’s so crucial that his former boss — who believes the government should help the investor class — win this November

"A central problem with the U.S. economy, he told me, is finding a way to get more people to look for solutions despite these terrible odds of success. Conard’s solution is simple. Society benefits if the successful risk takers get a lot of money. For proof, he looks to the market. At a nearby table we saw three young people with plaid shirts and floppy hair. For all we know, they may have been plotting the next generation’s Twitter, but Conard felt sure they were merely lounging on the sidelines. "What are they doing, sitting here, having a coffee at 2:30?" he asked. "I’m sure those guys are college-educated." Conard, who occasionally flashed a mean streak during our talks, started calling the group "art-history majors," his derisive term for pretty much anyone who was lucky enough to be born with the talent and opportunity to join the risk-taking, innovation-hunting mechanism but who chose instead a less competitive life. In Conard’s mind, this includes, surprisingly, people like lawyers, who opt for stable professions that don’t maximize their wealth-creating potential. He said the only way to persuade these "art-history majors" to join the fiercely competitive economic mechanism is to tempt them with extraordinary payoffs.

"The wealth concentrated at the top should be twice as large, he said. That way, the art-history majors would feel compelled to try to join them.

"During one conversation, he expressed anger over the praise that Warren Buffett has received for pledging billions of his fortune to charity.

"There’s also the fact that Conard applies a relentless, mathematical logic to nearly everything, even finding a good spouse. He advocates, in utter seriousness, using demographic data to calculate the number of potential mates in your geographic area. Then, he says, you should set aside a bit of time for "calibration" — dating as many people as you can so that you have a sense of what the marriage marketplace is like. Then you enter the selection phase, this time with the goal of picking a permanent mate. The first woman you date who is a better match than the best woman you met during the calibration phase is, therefore, the person you should marry. By statistical probability, she is as good a match as you’re going to get. (Conard used this system himself.)

"Conard and Romney certainly share views on numerous policy matters. Like many Republicans, they promote lower taxes and less regulation for those who achieve financial success. Romney has also said that rising inequality is not a problem and that the attention paid to the issue is "about envy. I think it’s about class warfare."

"After we spoke for one of the last times, he sent me an e-mail summing up his argument: At base, having a small elite with vast wealth is good for the poor and middle class. "From my perspective," he wrote, 'it’s not a close call.'"

Does His Majesty's Palace Have Enough Elevators For His Coaches?

Conservatives haven't been this outspoken for ages and Mr. Conard is telling us what to expect from a Romney presidency.

Hiding under their phony concerns over "States Rights," "Family Values," "balanced budgets," "small government," "personal responsibility," and all the rest, the real aim of Conservatism has now been laid before us.  Criminalize Conservatism before it's too late!

Republican Women Join The War On Women.

Republican Women Join The War On Women.

In another move against her sex, auguring increased deaths resulting from the battle between Conservative politics and the prevention of cervical cancer in young women, Nikki Haley repeats the new Conservative mantra: "We've won, and there's nothing you can do about it."

An excerpt on this story from Matthew O'Leary, Myrtle Beach Human Rights Writer at Examiner.com:

"On Tuesday, South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley vetoed a Democrat-sponsored bill that would provide seventh graders with a free HPV vaccine. HPV, the Human Papilloma Virus, which has been linked to cervical cancer. The bill was sponsored by Bakari Sellers of Bamberg, and received bipartisan support on its way to Gov. Haley's desk. It passed overwhelmingly in the Senate (40-2) and by a broad margin in the House (63-40)...South Carolina ranks 9th in the nation for estimated deaths from cervical cancer."

The Conservatives of the 21st Century are no longer bashful about hiding their belief that we are best ruled by the wealthy, a posture carefully concealed when the Conservatives of the early days of the country, the Federalists, lost power after trying to persuade the electorate that they were unfit to rule.

What convinces the Conservatives that they no longer need fear the wrath of the people unless they believe that protest at the polls is useless? Are the Republicans firmly in control of the automated voting machines once again?

The Democratic leadership seems oblivious to the problem, so the proof will lie in the results of the upcoming elections when the results are compared with the exit polls that show how people really voted. (Even Wikipedia has an article on the theft of the 2004 elections via the voting machines at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2004_United_States_election_voting_controversies

The Basic Laws of Human Stupidity.

The Basic Laws of Human Stupidity

As an early preparation for future essays on the neurological basis of Conservative psychology on this blog, the classic essay on the "Basic Laws of Human Stupidity" is probably required. Explanations of *how* Conservatives are meaner, more rigid, and possibly stupider in intellect than Progressives, can be seen here: http://www.criminalizeconservatism.com/p/science-of-conservatism.html

As an early preparation for future observations on the neurological basis of Conservative psychology, an essay on the Basic Laws of Human Stupidity is a necessity.  Explanations of *how* Conservatives are meaner, more rigid, and possibly stupider in intellect than progresives, can be seen here:

http://www.ecotopia.com/webpress/stupidity/

But the Basic Laws are as informative as they are hilarious. The First Basic Law of Stupidity states:

"Always and inevitably everyone underestimates the number of stupid individuals in circulation."

The Second Basic Law, "The probability that a certain person be stupid is independent of any other characteristic of that person," is obvious when looking at a typical Conservative harangue.  (Scroll down to the bottom of http://www.criminalizeconservatism.com/2012/06/republican-sex-offenders.html to see the Comments of "Anonymous," and my responses to him/her.)

And The Third (And Golden) Basic Law, "A stupid person is a person who causes losses to another person or to a group of persons while himself deriving no gain and even possibly incurring losses" contains the kernel of the danger of the stupid Conservative - he hurts everyone around him.

Until modern science discovers ways to increase our intelligence, or the intelligence of our unborn, through genetic engineering or biochemical means, we shall continue to suffer the pains of Conservative blunderings.

Our only choice is to criminalize conservatism.

Republican Sex Offenders

A while back, a somehow conflating the word "results" with "offenders," a Conservative groupie posted, "If you google 'democrat (sic) sex offenders' you will garner 6.2 million results. If you google 'republican sex offenders' you will receive 1.7 million results(.)  3.64 times more likely than 'Republican sex offenders(.)"

Another intellectually-challenged True Believer decided to take the issue even further, and for reasons known only to himself, decided to prune names of Democrats born after 1940 from a list going back to pre-Colonial times (The underlying list from politicalgraveyard.com is a fascinating read, by the way.):

I knew someone had to have made a list, by now. I found this at 'The Political Graveyard.'
Some of these are older Dems, they also list Repubs too.
While I don't view being gay as criminal, I do view it as criminal when it involves underage boys. Also un-ethical when he/she is portraying themselves as a happily married man (or woman.)

Note that "susoni" graciously said, "While I don't view being gay as criminal, I do view it as criminal when it involves underage boys. Also un-ethical when he/she is portraying themselves as a happily married man (or woman.)." There are no women on his/her list, and also not that susoni fudged a bit with the last three items.  When you subtract the narratives, you can see that ten Democrats appeared on this list.

Another Conservative chronicler noted:

Democrat Pedophiles and Sex Offenders Outnumber Repubs, many Dems re-elected.

The only difference between democrats and republicans when it comes to sex offenders is: Democrats have more, and re-elect them.

Just for starters:

REP. JOHN YOUNG (D-Tex.):
Colleen Gardner, a former staff secretary to Young, told the New York Times that Young increased her salary after she gave in to his sexual advances. In November, Young, who had run unopposed in the safe Democratic district five consecutive times, w More..as reelected with just 61 percent of the vote. The scandal wouldn't go away, and in 1978 Young was defeated in a Democratic primary runoff.

REP. ALLAN HOWE (D-Utah):
Howe was arrested in Salt Lake City on charges of soliciting two policewomen posing as prostitutes. Howe insisted he was set up and refused to resign. But the Democratic Party distanced itself from his candidacy and he was trounced by his Republican opponent in the November election.

REP. FRED RICHMOND (D-N.Y.):
Richmond was arrested in Washington for soliciting sex from a 16-year-old boy. Richmond apologized for his actions, conceding he "made bad judgments involving my private life." In spite of a Democratic primary opponent's attempts to cash in on the headlines, Richmond easily won renomination and reelection. But his career came to an end four years later when, after pleading guilty to possession of marijuana and tax evasion - and amid allegations that he had his staff procure cocaine for him -- he resigned his seat.

REP. JOHN HINSON (D-Miss.):
During his first reelection bid, Hinson stunned everyone by announcing that in 1976 he had been accused of committing an obscene act at a gay haunt in Virginia. Hinson, married and a strong conservative, added that in 1977 he had survived a fire in a gay D.C. movie theater. He was making the disclosure, he said, because he needed to clear his conscience. But he denied he was a homosexual and refused GOP demands that he resign. Hinson won reelection in a three-way race, with 39 percent of the vote. But three months later, he was arrested on charges of attempted oral sodomy in the restroom of a House office building. He resigned his seat on April 13, 1981.

REP. ROBERT BAUMAN (D-Md.):
Bauman, a leading "pro-family" conservative, pleaded innocent to a charge that he committed oral sodomy on a teenage boy in Washington. Married and the father of four, Bauman conceded that he had been an alcoholic but had been seeking treatment. The news came as a shock to voters of the rural, conservative district, and he lost to a Democrat in November.

REP. DAN CRANE (R-Ill.) and REP. GERRY STUDDS (D-Mass.):
The House ethics committee on July 14, 1983, announced that Crane and Studds had sexual relationships with teenage congressional pages -- Crane with a 17-year-old female in 1980, Studds with a 17-year-old male in 1973. Both admitted the charges that same day, and Studds acknowledged he was gay. The committee voted to reprimand the two, but a back-bench Georgia Republican named Newt Gingrich argued that they should be expelled. The full House voted on July 20 instead to censure the two, the first time that ever happened for sexual misconduct. Crane, married and the father of six, was tearful in his apology to the House, while Studds refused to apologize. Crane's conservative district voted him out in 1984, while the voters in Studds's more liberal district were more forgiving. Studds won reelection in 1984 with 56 percent of the vote, and continued to win until he retired in 1996.

SEN. BROCK ADAMS (D-Wash.):
Seattle newspapers reported that Kari Tupper, the daughter of Adams's longtime friends, filed a complaint against the Washington Democrat in July of 1987, charging sexual assault. She claimed she went to Adams's house in March 1987 to get him to end a pattern of harassment, but that he drugged her and assaulted her. Adams denied any sexual assault, saying they only talked about her employment opportunities. Adams continued raising campaign funds and declared for a second term in February of 1992. But two weeks later the Seattle Times reported that eight other women were accusing Adams of sexual molestation over the past 20 years, describing a history of drugging and subsequent rape. Later that day, while still proclaiming his innocence, Adams ended his campaign.

REP. JIM BATES (D-Calif.):
Roll Call quoted former Bates aides in October 1988 saying that the San Diego Democrat made sexual advances toward female staffers. Bates called it a GOP-inspired smear campaign, but also apologized for anything he did that might have seemed inappropriate. The story came too close to Election Day to damage Bates, who won easily. However, the following October the ethics committee sent Bates a "letter of reproval" directing him to make a formal apology to the women who filed the complaint. Although the district was not thought to be hospitable to the GOP, Randy "Duke" Cunningham, a former Navy pilot who was once shot down over North Vietnam, ousted Bates in 1990 by fewer than 2,000 votes.

REP. GUS SAVAGE (D-Ill.):
Savage had fondled a Peace Corps volunteer while on an official visit to Zaire. Savage called the story a lie and blamed it on his political enemies and a racist media. (Savage is black.) In January 1990, the House ethics committee decided that the events did occur, but decided against any disciplinary action because Savage wrote a letter to the woman saying he "never intended to offend" her. Savage was reelected in 1990, but finally ousted in the 1992 primary by Mel Reynolds.

REP. BARNEY FRANK (D-Mass.):
In response to a story in the Washington Times, Frank confirmed that he hired Steve Gobie, a male prostitute, in 1985 to live with and work for him in his D.C. apartment. But Frank, who is gay, said he fired Gobie in 1987 when he learned he was using the apartment to run a prostitution service. The Boston Globe, among others, called on Frank to resign, but he refused. On July 19, 1990, the ethics committee recommended Frank be reprimanded because he "reflected discredit upon the House" by using his congressional office to fix 33 of Gobie's parking tickets. Attempts to expel or censure Frank failed; instead the House voted 408-18 to reprimand him. The fury in Washington was not shared in Frank's district, where he won reelection in 1990 with 66 percent of the vote, and has won by larger margins ever since.

SEN. DANIEL INOUYE (D-Hawaii):
In October 1992, Republican Senate nominee Rick Reed began running a campaign commercial that included a surreptitiously taped interview with Lenore Kwock, Inouye's hairdresser. Kwock said Inouye had sexually forced himself on her in 1975 and continued a pattern of sexual harassment, even as Kwock continued to cut his hair over the years. Inouye, seeking a sixth term, denied the charges. And Kwock said that by running the commercial, Reed had caused her more pain than Inouye had. Reed was forced to pull the ad, and while many voters took out their anger on the Republican, Inouye was held to 57 percent of the vote - the lowest total of his career. A week later, a female Democratic state legislator announced that she had heard from nine other women who claimed Inouye had sexually harassed them over the past decade. But the women didn't go public with their claims, the local press didn't pursue the story, and the Senate Ethics Committee decided to drop the investigation because the accusers wouldn't participate in an inquiry.

REP MEL REYNOLDS (D-Ill.):
Freshman Reynolds was indicted on Aug. 19, 1994, on charges of having sex with a 16-year-old campaign worker and then pressuring her to lie about it. Reynolds, who is black, denied the charges and said the investigation was racially motivated. The GOP belatedly put up a write-in candidate for November, but Reynolds dispatched him in the overwhelmingly Democratic district with little effort. Reynolds was convicted on Aug. 22, 1995 of 12 counts of sexual assault, obstruction of justice and solicitation of child pornography, was sentenced to five years in prison, and resigned his seat on October 1.

Let's not forget:
John Wayne Gacy, rapist, murderer, democrat fund raiser
Michael Skakel, Kennedy, murderer
William Kennedy Smith, Kennedy, rapis
Brian Doyle, dem activist child molestert
Neil Goldschmidt, Oregon governor, confessed child molester

David Lettermans pedophile remarks about a 13 year old girl

J.C. Watts, Representative (R-Oklahoma), loud champion of "moral values." Has out-of-wedlock children.

This list was made before Mark Foley, David Vitter or Larry Craig!

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Lest we forget, the Republican Party is the party of "family values," the party that harangues against non-heterosexual, unmarried sex, the party that refuses to entertain the legality of marriage outiside of that between man and woman.

It's all smoke, the Republican Party is all about money, not about the People.

Whether because of hubris, the effect of the Authoritarian Personality, or something else is a topic that deserves further mention and we will develop the theme in coming weeks. Suffice it to say, no Conservative follower has been able to post a list anywhere near the dimensions of  that listed in "Republican Sex Offenders."  It's impossible, Republicans outnumber Democrats in the "sex offender" category way beyond comparison.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Update 6/21/12 3 hours later: Sadly, only one "rebuttal" was received from a Conservative follower: "Somehow you have forgotten all about the numerous charges of sexual harrassment, sexual misconduct (in the oval office(sic)) and even RAPE against former President Bill Clinton - sexual harrassment against his vice president Al Gore, (sic, and Presidential candidate) John Edwards having a "love child" while married - and these are all Democratic Presidents and PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATES- just from just the last decade (sic, President Clinton served from 1992 through 2000, the years of "Peace And Prosperity.")!  No need to go all the way back to the 1700s when you're listing Democrats.  :)"

Sic, sic, sic.  Somehow, Anonymous spoke before reading the complete post; a Remedial Reading course at his local junior college would not have been unhelpful for improving his writing; a course in Critical Thinking would have improved his/her debating skills.  But we must be polite.

To Anonymous: First of all your own fellow-conservative presented the link going back to the 1700s, not I;.  Second, there's no "somehow" about it:  He noted the  so-called "The Clinton Rapes," a series of accusations never proven ("charges," as you admitted), no matter how hard the famous, and now discredited for all time, witch-hunter Kenneth Starr tried to prove after spending millions and millions of taxpayer dollars.  The Republican Sex Offenders List is much more definitive in listing convictions, legal charges, and confessions  - as opposed to charges by Republican hatchetmen.  Third, at the bottom of the list you'll find, "This list was made before Mark Foley, David Vitter or Larry Craig!"

Anonymous, a proper rebuttal should seek to disprove my contention by coming up with more Democratic names than the Republican names listed here, and you failed to do this.  By the way, there was no need to shout RAPE nor PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATES - anyone reading this blog would understand the terms. :)
